Frequently Asked Questions
What does somatic mean?
Somatic in the most general sense means “of the body”. Your mind, body, spirit, and emotions are an integral part of your well being and it is important that we invite them all to the healing process. In session we explore breath, feelings, and sensations in your body to connect you more deeply to yourself and inform how you relate to others.
Do I come alone or with my partner?
I work with individuals on their relationship to their body and how their body relates to other bodies. If you would like to be seen with your partner(s) I am happy to refer you to other practitioners who hold wonderful space for multiple people in session.
How many sessions should I have?
Every body is different and we move at the speed of trust in your particular body. Sometimes that is one session and sometimes that is regular sessions over a number of months. Deepening into the work takes multiple sessions and we can discuss what that could look like for your individual goals.
It seems like you only work with LGBTQIA+ folks, can I work with you if I am straight?
It is true that my work centers queer folks and I will work with anyone who has goals an intentions that can be supported by my particular skill set. If, after our consult, it becomes clear that you would be better served by another practitioner I am happy to make referrals.
Are you seeing folks in person?
As of spring 2023, I am seeing limited numbers of clients in person each week. All folks will begin virtually and can transition to in person after at least a couple of visits. There is significant work that can be done virtually and I am happy to discuss what that can look like during a consult.
What else do I need to know before I schedule?
When we begin the process of moving toward pleasure, quite often we can come up against feelings that are unexpected or difficult. It is important to consider if you have the supports you need to pursue the work. Do you have the resources emotionally and monetarily to carry you in this process? It is also helpful to consider if you have the time to devote to the process as there are things that you learn in session that you will want to practice and integrate into your day to day life.
